Kobiashi Tanaka -
Oni Battle Mage

As the heir to the Daimyo
of the
second largest planet in the Bushi Federation 20 Year old
Kobiashi Tanaka led the life of a prince. His wife, by an
arranged marriage when he was 14 and she 16, was beautiful and
they were very much in love. Together they had a five-year-old
son, Cososumi and Kikko was expecting their second child any day.
Then that all came to a crashing halt one day. As Kobi was
playing with his son, a band of Ronin Cyberi stormed the Tanaka
Family home and slaughtered Kobi's parents, wife and child. Kobi
tried to defend his beloved family but to no avail. Kobi was
beaten, stabbed and left for dead. Seeing his entire family
viscously murdered by the rogue 'borgs drove Kobiashi Tanaka
insane.
When Kobi had recovered
enough to
travel, vengeance consuming his every thought, he took what was
left of his family fortune and left the Bushi Federation. The
thought of those machines killing his family made him
forever-loath high technology. Refusing to use any technological
means, Kobi sought out an equal but opposite force to exact his
revenge. Magic!
As the magic arts are rare
in the
Bushi Federation Kobi set out on a quest to find a teacher that
could instruct him in the art of spell casting, and in a manner
that his Oni nature demanded. After 10 years, and a dozen
instructors (knows all first level spells), Kobi found what he
was looking for. A total discipline of mind and body, the
ultimate blend of muscle and magic. In the city of Dwoemer in the
Magic Zone the schooling of a Battle Mage was the solution he had
been searching for.
With the discipline of an
Oni
already instilled in him from birth, Kobi completed his training
in the minimum six years, always keeping his motivation secret
lest he be expelled. After keeping to himself for those six years
secrecy became part of his nature. Kobi will never volunteer any
information, and will reply to any direct question with as simple
an answer as possible (usually yes or no) and never elaborates.
If asked a personal question Kobi will avoid the question by
giving a vague answer and walking away.
He has almost no sense of
humor and
will avoid friendly banter. Kobi is also fanatical about
protecting women and children, and will defend them at any cost.
He will never directly attack women or children, even if being by
one he will only defend himself and try to contain or subdue
them. He will die before he intentionally harms or kills
one.
Kobi considers anyone who
relies on
power armor or weapons more advanced than a crossbow unworthy of
his respect. He will not under any circumstances associate with a
cyborg for any reason. If there is a 'borg in an enemy party Kobi
will attack it first regardless of the circumstances.
Kobi carries a modified Death Bringer sword that he spent his
entire fortune on. Shaped in the style of a katana it has the
standard abilities of invulnerability and spinning blades, but
has replaced sub-particle acceleration with negate mechanics
(both 7th level spells). It also has a 300
P.P.E.
crystal battery built into the hilt.
Kobi now searches the
Megaverse looking for those responsible
for the death of those he held dearest, and will not stop
searching until he finds them and exacts restitution from them
for what they have done.
